Rap music was originated from Africa – America in the midst of 1980s and 1990s. This music is also known as black music as it was created by the urban African Negroes. The music generally had powerful rhythms and beautiful melodies. Rap music is very popular genre of music and is from the culture of hip-hop and has a background full of instruments. The disk jockey (DJ) mixes and creates small excerpts from the recorded melodies whereas the rapper sings poems and mouth out beautiful lyrics in accordance with the music in the background. Rap music is not light music; it has a strong musical format and contains historic epic music and street sound instrumental music. Rap song was fist originated in the city of Bronx, a ghetto of NYC.

As the rap music gains popularity and becomes more lyrical and advance, the African American singers and rappers have included drum sounds, instrumental music and many other melodies to enhance the beauty of hip hop music. Many components were mixed and altered which resulted in the birth of rap music and all these factors put life in the hip hop culture. Many critics have protested against rap music because of some reasons which include sexually explicit lyrics, violent promoting texts or many opinions that were subjected to politics and controversial disputes due to which fury was aroused amongst people and they started abhorring rap music. Thus, this made the ghettos stop using violence and actions to open the critic’s eyes and make them see the rightness of rap music and they started attacking silently through their powerful lyrics.

Rap was also originated when the slaves of Africa came to America and on freedom mixed and altered many of the American tones and mixed them with the hip hop tones. Rap was also originated from Jamaican culture stories which were known as “toasts”. Critics started to raise more voices when in the 1980’s rap started becoming more popular among teenagers. These critics invoked suspicions in the minds of the teenager’s parents that the rap music is spoiling their children and making them exposed to sex life, lust, teenage affairs and drugs. However, the rapper and musicians have disowned all these critics and has said that it entirely depends on an individual how he takes things; his mentality chooses wrong or right paths. But the rapper and the lyrics writers have become rather careful to write lyrics and not to invoke more criticism.
